800 Km Bike Ride – Bicycle Victoria, Northern Tasmania. AUSTRALIA
Dr. Menakaya undertook an 800 km bike ride to raise money for The Featherweight Club, Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, Mercy Hospital for Women, Melbourne Australia.
The bike ride organised by Bicycle Victoria happened at high summer in the month of January, when the weather is hot Down Under. He flew to Launceston in Northern Tasmania and then rode for 800 km in North Western Tasmania, making new friends, learning new skills like setting up a tent and camping, getting very sore, but avoiding the ‘sag wagon’. He enjoyed the wonderful scenery like Little Uluru (The Nut) at Stanley. Most importantly he completed the ride. To this day, he is still friends with many people that he met during that 10-day experience!
The money raised from the ride was used to purchase vital equipment to help care for the most vulnerable members of our society, extremely sick and extremely premature newborn babies.
